A Note on Seven Veils

I'm sure that you're wondering if I've deserted you, or this story, and the answer is no. However, I've had quite a grueling summer, which some of you already know. I'm hoping to spend a little time focusing on finishing the final part of the story and getting it posted as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience and support. I do appreciate it.

My idea for the Charlie's chapter was exceedingly simple. So simple, that I felt it didn't work. I don't know, now, though. I feel like I should dig it up, and post it anyway. Thanks for the kick in that direction!

Seriously, it would be so great to have Charlie's chapter to wrap this up. I know as a writer that I can't leave things unfinished. As a reader, this is still a satisfying series, but it really would be wonderful to get that closure. :)

Just finished my yearly ritual of a complete series viewing followed immediately by this superb piece of writing and I can't say if I really want to read Charlie's chapter now because Dani's is so complete. Well, consummate for her own individual arc. Getting Charlie's POV would give the series a perfect balance. On initial watch of the series as it aired I was miffed that we got so little of Dani onscreen only to realise, years later, that it was probably one of the best things to happen. During that absence it only solidified their alliance to each other and allowed them to accept the fact they were no longer alone. They weren't forsaken. They had each other. Along with the distance comes perspective and this year, I learned that given time, this partnership would have rivaled Mulder/Scully for me. In fact, I'm pretty sure this partnership DOES contend with M/S because you make it feel so complete. Many similarities within the dynamic strike a chord of familiarity. At first I would liken them to Lynley/Havers with their last chance partnership, but it really evolved into more aided by the conspiracy element and the braided themes of belief, truth and hope. Themes that were complemented by the individual tenacity of Crews and Reese. Oh what a beauteous thing when character and plot complement, converge and fulfill the other. Thank you SO. MUCH. for creating this series. It is because of your work I came to that epiphany and because of your work the words I've used lack just how much this means to me. It gives me feelings that can only be conveyed when you hear that song you never knew you were longing to hear and it hits deep and narrow yet resonates wide and hums. A feeling that is nebulous and heavy all at once.

You are so very kind, and both this, and an earlier note have sent me digging through the notes that I have from my old laptop. It's odd, since Charlie was the POV character in many ways, but his voice has proven to be the hardest to capture. As much as Charlie chatters, I think he's very still inwardly, and really, it's a complement to Damian Lewis that he was able to play that dichotomy so well. So, it's been an effort to write him and feel satisfied with what I've got. Still. This unfinished ending haunts me ... and I thank you again for your patience with me!

I recently discovered Life - sad it only lasted 2 seasons. Then I found your wonderful fiction that has kept the story going for me. I do hope you will finish - you are an awesome writer!
